A MEMO FROM THE MCHS PROM COMMITTEE: The Mt. Carmel High School Prom has officially been postponed from its original date of May 2, 2020. This decision comes regardless of any updates to the Governor’s stay-at-home directive that currently runs through the month of April. We have every intention of holding the dance and associated events at a later date, likely in June or July. When the decision is made, there will be ample time between then and the new date to make preparations including getting fitted for a tuxedo, ordering flowers, and other tasks that require lead time, communication, and planning.

Wabash CUSD #348 Press Release At 3:30 pm today, Governor Pritzker announced a directive that all public and private schools in the state of Illinois will be closed March 17th-30th. These closures are directly related to the concern over the COVID-19 virus. District #348 will follow this directive and remain closed until the 30th. The governor did stress he may continue closures. During this time, all District curricular and extracurricular activities will be cancelled. As more information and details emerge, it will be disseminated on the website www.Wabash348.com, District app and District Facebook page.
Effective March 13, 2020, all K-12 school districts in Wabash County are closing indefinitely due to concerns pertaining to COVID-19. Additionally, all extracurricular activities will be suspended. The closings come with a recommendation from the Wabash County Health Department and are designed to protect the community. To my knowledge, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, but this precautionary move is designed to inhibit the spread of this virus. As of this time, there is no timetable to reopen the schools. However, it is the intention of the Districts to reopen as soon as possible. I will continue to communicate with the public via our website, app, and all calls. Chuck Bleyer, Ed.D. Superintendent

The District does not want to promote or encourage students attending school while not feeling completely healthy. If you have any questions, please call your child’s school office.

Juniors and Seniors: Looking for something impressive to put on your college applications and scholarship forms: Become a Lunch Buddy with a student from Mt. Carmel Elementary School. Once a week you would have lunch/recess with the same student. It is a great program to help a younger student feel special. . As a Lunch Buddy you would build self-confidence in your student and also form a valuable relationship with them. First grade lunch hour is 11:30-12:15 which works well with high school students whom have 5A lunch. Second Grade lunch is 12:05-12:50. As a Lunch buddy you can eat free at the elementary school or bring in a healthy lunch from home. Students usually come on Tuesdays or Thursdays. The program starts in Oct and through to the end of the school year. If you switch lunch hours during Spring Semester we just have you get a different buddy whom is being serviced. Please speak to: Mrs. Laura Taylor if you are interested. This is an upper level program for Juniors and Seniors. A student must be able to get transportation to elementary school. Your parents will fill out a consent saying you can be off school grounds for the program. Teachers work with you about arriving in a timely manner. Mrs. Nancy Vargo is the sponsor at the MCES for the program. You may reach her at 263-3876 if you have any questions. The Lunch Buddy program leaves a big impact on the Elementary Students. Please consider volunteering for this program.. We will meet in the Guidance Conference Room on 10/17 during activity periods.
