MCHS Students chosen for Vocal Jazz

Wabash District #348 music students will be represented at the upcoming 2019 Illinois Music Educators Association District Music Festival.

Mt. Carmel High School will be represented by Riley Allen, Jonathon Bader, Audrey Baker, Maggee Bleyer, Orrin Bromm, Chase Dowdy, Nathaniel Garrison, Elijah Gill, Gabriel Henson, McKenzie Henson, Eva Hocking, Boyd Holt, Brady Kolb, Ashley Majors, Jonas Martin, James Martin, Jack Marvell, Christopher May, Jaden Norrick, Alexandria Peach, Halie Peach, Timothy Rosignol, Elijah Sherman, Hannah Shular, Hannah Wall, Jacob Wall, Rebekah Wall and Taigen Wright.

The festivals will be held at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston Illinois, on both Monday, November 4th (Jazz Festival Day) and Saturday November 23rd. Placement for ILMEA is made through stringent auditions, and selection for membership in one of the performing organizations is a reflection of high standards established for, and by, the Student, Director, and School District.

About 10,000 Junior High and Senior High students will participate in similar events, held in nine geographic Districts throughout the State. From that number, only 1,250 senior high students will be chosen for membership in one of ten performing organizations at the Illinois “All-State” Music Conference in Peoria, January 29-Feb 1st, 2020. In addition to performances by the All-State musical ensembles, the annual Conference also included over 125 “in-service” professional development workshops for the music educators attending and a large music industry trade show demonstrating the latest in music education materials, instruments, and technology.
