On February 4th, 2020, Student Leadership Council from MCJHS and Interact Club from MCHS began their combined journey towards raising money for One Heart Taiwan. Every Tuesday and Thursday, throughout a two-week period, students took turns selling candy bars during their respectable lunch hours. February 13th marked the final day for candy bar sales. Students were able to raise 500 dollars for One Heart Taiwan!
Every year, the Student Leadership Council and Interact Club go on a mission to fundraise for a cause. The project’s inspiration this year was One Heart Taiwan. One Heart Taiwan is an orphanage placed in Taiwan for special needs children. Peyton Farmer, a former student of MCHS, works as a social worker for the orphanage. When Peyton Farmer gave her presentation over One Heart Taiwan earlier this school year, students in Student Leadership Council and Interact Club grew a strong sense of motivation to help raise funds for this one-of-a-kind orphanage.
On February 26th, Maci Farmer, an MCJHS student and sister of Peyton Farmer, was presented with a check of 500 dollars for One-Heart Taiwan from the Interact Club. From this experience, students have learned a powerful feeling of teamwork and dedication. Mrs. Taylor gifted this wonderful opportunity to the Student Leadership Council and Interact Club. These two clubs, not only strive to better their community but also believe in change for the world.
