8TH GRADE AT REGIONAL SCIENCE FAIR
Mt. Carmel Junior High was well represented at the Regional Science Fair Held on March 07, 2023, at SIU Carbondale. The two ladies sharing their findings from their science fair project received the highest level score, “Gold”, from the judges who heard their presentations
Madison Riggs and Leah Lewis, received a bid to compete in the State Science Fair to be held once again in Carbondale, Illinois on April 29th, for their efforts studying if the amount of time elapsed between an event and the eyewitness account affects the accuracy of the details recalled. The girls also were awarded a monetary award from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion for their efforts.
Madison is the daughter of Jason and Mandy Riggs of Mt. Carmel, Il. Leah is the daughter of Michael and Brittany Lewis of Mt. Carmel, Il.
Sarah Dougherty is the 8th Grade Science Teacher and was the advisor and sponsor for the girls.
