One way I encourage reading is a March Madness–themed reading tournament of books. Since the collegiate-level basketball tournament is going on, I piggyback off of that and encourage students to read and vote for their favorite book to win the tournament of books! Each week, students vote on their favorite books in the brackets to see which books move on.
This March Madness Book Tournament is always a favorite activity that students LOVE year after year. It gets students truly excited about reading and discussing their favorite books.
