8th grade students today learned what is was like to live during the great depression. Throughout the simulation students managed a budget and made decisions like whether they should sell their house and live in a shantytown (Hooverville) or send their kids to an orphanage for their own protection. The goal was to get through the depression by losing as little as possible and still staying over budget.
