Congratulations to Mt. Carmel High School senior, Madi Merritt for placing top 13 out of 125 finalists in the district for her Voice of Democracy essay. She received a monetary scholarship as she attended a luncheon at the Olney VFW.

Here are a couple of tips to help save some money over the holidays. 1) Never leave the school issued Chromebook in extreme temperatures (don't leave it in the car over break) 2) Store the Chromebook in a safe place so it doesn't break, get lost, or stolen (most screens that are broken come from backpacks). Protect your investment!!!

High school students taking final exams will be released at 2:44 tomorrow ,Wednesday, 12/18. Buses will run at normal times & no other students or schools are impacted. Again, this is only for high school students who are taking final exams.

MCHS Singing 7’s Holiday Performance will air December 25th, 5 a.m.-9 a.m. on WEVV 44.

Ever wish you had a private tutor to help your child with homework or to help answer questions when studying for exams. Well, you have one now and it is FREE!!! It is called Tutor.com and it is available 24/7. All the student needs to do is go to www.tutor.com/isacgu and use his/her first initial and last name and the day of your birth (jdoe3) as your login and ILGUtutoring as the password. The Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Independent Order of Odd Fellows scholarship application is available in the Guidance office. Applications can also be downloaded at: www.ioof-il.org. Go to the forms area across the top of the site and click on forms. Along with the application, there are several pages of supporting materials and/or documentation required. Applications must be fully completed and must be received by mail to the IOOF by March 1, 2020; so allow ample mail delivery time

Last night, the MCHS choir and band put on a memorable Madrigal performance. The production and the singing were amazing. Thank you to director Kim Mandrell. She was the driving force behind this exciting event.

MCHS - Due to Murphysboro High School having a limited number of players this Saturday (12/7/19), the contest at Mt. Carmel will be VARSITY ONLY (the JV game has been CANCELED). The Varsity game will start at 2:00pm.

9th - 12th Grade: A Day With Robots. February 1, 2020 Vincennes University 9:30am - 3pm College of Technology @ 1300 N Chestnut Street. Explore how to program and design circuits. Seniors: The Illinois Elks Association offers college scholarships to students majoring in Physical & Occupational Therapy. And, the Elks Association offers college scholarships for Physical and Occupational Therapy Assistant Majors. Find the applications online at illinoiselksccc.org. The deadline is March 6, 2020. Seniors: Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union has announced they are continuing the Ted Hitch Scholarship Program. Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each will be awarded in the Spring of 2020. Ten awards will be given to graduating high school seniors. To qualify for ETFCU’s scholarship, seniors must meet the following criteria: 1) Applicant or applicant’s parents/guardians must be a member of ETFCU for at least 18 months prior to the February 28, 2020 deadline. 2) Student must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale or 5.0 on a 6.0 scale, or equivalent, at the end of the fall semester 3) The use of at least 3 ETFCU services is required. The services are listed in Section 1 of the application Applications are available in the MCHS Guidance Office or online at www.etfcu.org/scholarship

Seniors: Thirty $2,000 Farm Credit Illinois scholarships are available to high school seniors planning to enroll in an agriculture-based college curriculum next fall. Two applicants will be designated “Diversity in Agriculture Scholars”. Recipients must reside – or their family must farm – in one of the 60 central and southern Illinois counties served by Farm Credit Illinois. Selection criteria include academic achievement, participation and leadership with school and community organizations, and a commitment to pursuing an agriculture-related career. As part of the application, students will create a 30-45 second video file capturing their passion for agriculture. The application deadline is February 28, 2020. A selection of Mt. Carmel Jr Sr High School Music Students travel to Charleston, Illinois for the ILMEA Junior & Senior Concert Festival at Eastern Illinois University. They will spend their Saturday learning music from selected elite ILMEA conductors and perform concerts starting at 4:00 p.m. at EIU. Go Aces!!
