District #348 Preschool for All is conducting Child Find/Preschool Screenings for Birth to 5-year-old children not yet enrolled in public schools and who are not kindergarten eligible. The screening checks each child’s progress in hearing, vision, speech, language, and coordination skills. This will give parents a better idea of how their child is progressing at this very young age before they begin school. This screening program is free and parents will receive immediate feedback on how their child is developing. Head Start personnel will also be present to explain their program and services.
Screenings will be held on September 14, 15, and 16th. Children ages 0-3 will only be screened on September 14th. The screening procedure takes about 45 minutes, and appointments must be made so that children do not have a long wait period. Parents should call 618-262-4623 to make an appointment or to get more information.

Friday, September 3rd will be an early dismissal day due to teacher in-service trainings. Kindergarteners will be dismissed at 11:30, 1st graders at 11:45, and 2nd graders at 12:00. Busses will pick up around 12:10.

Here is the link to register your student for Dental Safari if you are interested. The dental team will be here on Wednesday, September 8th and Thursday, September 9th. http://www.dentalsafariforms.com/ Stephanie Kolb RN, BSN, PEL-CSN Certified School Nurse Wabash CUSD #348

Mrs. Gordon’s Kindergarten class went out to water the pumpkin patch planted this summer by Mrs Gordon. The goal for the pumpkin patch is to teach the life cycle of a pumpkin to the Kindergarten classes and hopefully every Kindergartener will have their own pumpkin to dissect! The seeds will be cleaned and planted by the classes so that the tradition may continue to grow each year until every grade level may participate in this year long science experience!

These three students are the first ever "Principal's Picks" for their artwork! Mr. Newkirk selects one classroom creation from each grade and displays it (weekly) near the main entrance for all to see their creativity.

MCES is in the running for a $1,000 gift for us to use for our students. Please go to https://wkdq.com/my-school-rules-illinois-voting/ to help us win!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Back to School bash! We had roughly 200 kiddos out there this evening, what a great turn out!
Special thanks to Back Yard Bouncin’ for always taking great care of us! Shout out to the Sno Shack for the yummy treats! Lastly to our awesome staff for coming out and volunteering their time to making it fun and run smoothly!

SEPTEMBER 8th and SEPTEMBER 9th @ Mt. Carmel Grade School, parents do not need to be present. Dental Safari is a mobile dentistry unit that is based out of Southern Illinois. They provide dental services to students who do not have access to a dentist or a dental home. Wabash Community School District #348 has teamed up with Dental Safari to provide dental services to those students who do not have access to dental services. Dental Safari will provide a dental exam, dental cleaning and dental sealants. All Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 6th grade and 9th grade students are required to have a dental exam completed prior to the end of the school year, so if you lack access to a dentist this opportunity may be just for you. If you would like for your child to participate in this service please scan the barcode on the flyer and complete the form. If you have any questions please feel free to call 618-262-5104. Thank you! Stephanie Kolb RN, BSN, PEL-CSN.
