The MCHS Girls basketball season opener that was scheduled for Tuesday, November 14th has been postponed due to Carmi-White County’s volleyball team advancing to the State Tournament this past weekend. This game will be rescheduled for Monday, December 18th at Carmi with the JV game starting at 6:00pm and the varsity game to follow.

Seniors:
If you are interested in applying to the University of Illinois Springfield, apply now. Application fees are being waived until Dec. 1st. Also, the Institutional Scholarship application is available online and due Feb 15, 2023. Apply at https://www.uis.edu/

Parents of Seniors!!!! On Monday, Nov. 13th WVC will be sending representatives to the high school to help your student set up their FSA ID in preparation for completing the FAFSA. Everyone will attend, even if they do not plan to attend or apply for college (There will be other paperwork that they will fill out in that case).
What your senior will need to create an FSA ID:
Full Name, address (with zip code), birthdate, Social Security number, non-school email that they can access (know the password to), cell phone for dual authentication, and their chrome book.
Please be sure that your student has all of these items with them/written down so that they can participate on Monday. Thank you for your help!


Jostens will be in the MCHS Library on Thursday, Nov. 16, to take graduation orders. Seniors should have a graduation packet for them and their parents/guardians to look at prior to the order-taking day. Mt. Carmel will travel to Unity High School in Tolono, IL for the Quarterfinals of the IHSA Class 3A Football Playoffs. The game will start at 2:00pm and gates will open at 12:00pm.

Selby Patberg, senior at Mt. Carmel High School will sign a National Letter of Intent to play Softball at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO). Her signing will take place on Thursday, November 9th at 6:00pm in the Junior High Lobby at Mt. Carmel High School. The public is encouraged to attend.


MCHS students have been busy visiting a couple of IECC schools. Students visited Lincoln Trail College (LTC) last week for Senior Day where they went on a tour, played trivia, received financial aid information, and had free lunch! This week students visited Wabash Valley College (WVC) for Broadcasting Day, where they learned about careers in broadcasting, social media, and behind the scenes operations of a radio/tv station. The students also received free lunch from the Warrior Grill at WVC. Thank you to our local IECC schools for creating such fun and educational events for our students!




On Friday Oct. 27th, thirty Junior and Senior Science students traveled to Vincennes University to attend Fun Friday. There the students were able to attend a two hour science class where they were able to participate in an anatomy dissection, making soap and beauty cream using Chemistry, or sample fish using an electrofishing technique, to name a few of the classes available.






Thank you to JammOn Jaleigh’s for donating a portion of the proceeds made during the playoff Football game against Benton! JammOn Jaleigh’s food truck provided delicious treats such as loaded home fries, shrimp po’boys, egg rolls, and sweet apple crisps. JammOn Jaleigh’s will be set up again this Saturday for the second-round playoff game against Sullivan. Gates open at noon. Go Aces!

Congratulations to our 2024 Illinois State Scholars! This year, eight students from MCHS were selected as Illinois State Scholars. Those students are: Eric Acree, Wyatt Alka, Chandler Cusick, Lauren Fisher, Marissa Goldman, Maria Kennard, Shade Loudermilk, and Carleigh Wright.
The State Scholar Program recognizes students attending approved high schools for outstanding academic achievement based upon standardized test scores and performance-based academic data. State scholar designation provides honorary recognition with no monetary award. Congratulations again to our scholars, and keep up the good work!

Applications for the MCHS Class of 1969 are available in the Guidance office. Two $500 awards will be presented at Awards night. One to a graduating senior planning to attend WVC and one to a graduating senior planning to attend a college other than WVC.Â

Yesterday Juniors and Seniors at MCHS participated in a College and Career Fair. They had a chance to talk with over 30 participating partners, including military personnel, junior colleges and universities, and local businesses! The day was a great success, and we are very thankful for the professionals that took time out of their day to meet with our students. **Special thanks to the Villas of Hollybrook dining services for providing a delicious lunch for everyone!** The list of partners yesterday included: Blackburn College, Eastern Illinois University, Frontier Community College (and FCC Broadband Telecom), Lincoln Tech, Lincoln Trail College, Olney Central College, University of Southern Indiana, Wabash Valley College (and WVC Ag, Business, Social Services, Early Childhood Education, Physical Therapy Assistant, and Nursing), Air Force, Army, Marines, Champion Laboratories, HLR Engineering, Wabash General Hospital, B & G Machining, Wabash County Chamber of Commerce, Staff Quick, Diversity Vuteq, CAFCU, Villas of Hollybrook, Braunability, Stabilization, Wabash County Health Dept., and Toyota.
