Snyder- Crumpacker Scholarship
A designated fund was created by Dr. Sara Snyder Crumpacker and Mr. J. Peter Crumpacker to support an annual scholarship administered through Mt. Carmel High School. If sufficient money is available to accommodate the awarding of two scholarships in the same year, one should be awarded to a male student and the other to a female student, when possible. This scholarship has been established to honor Max R. and Sara L. Snyder, and in the spirit of Thomas Jefferson, to recognize that an educated citizenry is vital for our survival as a free nation.
∙ DEADLINE for scholarship application: Applications must be turned in to the MCHS Guidance Office by March 20, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. (No exceptions).
∙ Incomplete applications will not be considered.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Graduating seniors of Mt. Carmel High School in Wabash County, Illinois who are planning full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university, who demonstrate financial need, and who have a GPA of at least 3.0 or show demonstrable achievement on SAT or ACT exams. Preference may be given to applicants planning a course of study or intending a career in the food industry, nutrition/nourishment, health, or agriculture. If there are no qualified applicants from Mt. Carmel High School in a given year, graduating seniors of other nearby Southern Illinois high schools may be eligible to apply.
The MCHS Wrestling team will now wrestle at Mt. Vernon, IN on Tuesday, January 16th at 6:00pm. The bus will leave at 4:00pm.

The MCHS Boys Basketball Team has added a game with Fairfield on Wednesday, January 31st at Fairfield. The JV game will start at 6:00pm, with the varsity game to follow.

IPRB Accepting Applications for the 2024 Scholarship
Have a senior student planning to attend a college or trade/technical school pursuing an oil and gas-related degree or certification? Encourage them to apply for IPRB's annual post-secondary education oil and gas scholarship! Applicants must have a career goal in the oil and gas industry. The application deadline is June 30, 2024. Gill - Wedding Orthodontics Scholarship
Applicants must currently be in orthodontic treatment or have completed orthodontic treatment by Dr. Gill or Dr. Wedding. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4 scale at the end of their senior fall semester for consideration for this scholarship. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.
Attention Senior Parents! FAFSA is live and we are here to help! First, parents (both) will need to log into studentaid.gov and create an account (in the top right of the page). Please do this as soon as possible! A few days after you create your FSA ID by creating an account, you will be able to log on and complete your student's FAFSA. If you get to a point that you are confused or need help, save your progress and join us on TUESDAY JANUARY 30th from 5:30-7:30 PM in the MCHS cafeteria for FAFSA night, where local college reps and and ISAC (Illinois Student Assistance Commission) representative will be present to help with any and all FAFSA questions. If you can't join us that night, please feel free to reach out with questions or to head to WVC on February 27th from 4-7 PM in Main Hall 205 where they will be assisting with FAFSA completion as well.

The Bev Morgan Memorial scholarship is available in the Guidance Office. This scholarship is specifically for those going into the medical field. Deadline is April 24, 2024.
The freshmen/sophomore girls basketball game scheduled for Thursday, January 4th against Richland County has been cancelled. The JV and Varsity game will still be on as scheduled with the JV game starting at 6:00pm and the Varsity game to follow.

The Brian Wright Memorial Scholarship is to be awarded to a graduate of MCHS in the amount of $500. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and must be submitted to the Guidance Office no later than April 25, 2024 by 3:00 pm.
