From the MCHS Homecoming Committee: As previously published, MCHS is excited to announce that we will be celebrating a Homecoming on Friday, April 16. As you might expect, the Homecoming will likely not look like the ones in the past. A Homecoming Queen and court will be chosen by the student body of MCHS and a crowning ceremony will be held on April 16 at a time and date to be announced later. With current IDPH and CDC guidelines, we would not be able to have the usual pep session, Homecoming Parade, football game that is scheduled on that date, or the dance on the next evening, but we are looking into options that would allow us to find a venue for the crowning of the Queen and announcement of the Homecoming Court. If restrictions are eased by this time we will certainly have a parade, football game, and dance. Owing to Homecoming being so close to Prom (May 1) the dance would be casual to cut down on the expense of buying formal wear.

The Illinois Masonic Children’s Assistance Program (IMCAP), an Illinois Freemasonry Charity is partnering with the Southern Masonic Lodges in offering the N. G. Cowen Scholarship for the third year. The Cowen Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Master Mason Norredden Gene Cowen by his wife. The goal of the Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to young adults from small towns in Southern Illinois, who are pursuing a training in the vocational or technical fields. With this particular vision in mind, Mrs. Cowen has instilled the following requirements. Applicants must: - Plan to attend or be currently enrolled in a trade school, vocational classes at a college, community college, GED or apprenticeship program - Reside in a town in the Southern Area with a population under 10,000 - Be 25 years old or younger - Be in need of financial assistance - Have had a high school GPA of 3.3 or lower. - Receive Referral Endorsement from an Illinois Mason in any Masonic affiliation. - Return completed application by March 31, 2021.
