Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) prepares young men and women for a lifetime of leadership. HOBY’s state leadership seminar is a one-of-a-kind program for high school sophomores. Attendees will participate in interactive leadership training, meet state leaders, and make new friends. Seniors: LaVern and Nola McEntire Lineworker’s Scholarship. One scholarship a year will be awarded to an individual who is related to a rural electric cooperative employee or director in the state of Illinois; or is the son or daughter of an electric cooperative member in Illinois; or is enrolled in the Lincoln Land lineworker’s school; or has served or is serving in the U.S. armed forces or National Guard. The applicant must have a highschool diploma or a GED at the time the scholarship is awarded. The WVC FAFSA Completion night has been rescheduled for Monday October 28th.

MCHS FBLA members are selling Pura Vida bracelets. They are $6 a bracelet with two colors to choose from. The bracelets will be delivered in 4-6 weeks. All proceeds will be used to pay for conference expenses. Find a MCHS FBLA member to order!

Parent Teacher Conferences:
In order to better accommodate the parents of our students the Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on October 22 & 24 from 4-7 p.m. The signup procedure is:
1. Parents may call the Guidance office at 262-8886 or may stop by during
school hours (7:30 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.) to make appointments. Students
may also set these appointments up for their parents in the Guidance Office
at the school. Parents or guardians can email Chris Pitzer cpitzer@wabash348.com .
2. An appointment schedule for each teacher will be kept in the school guidance office.
Appointments will be 15 minutes in length with a short break in between each one.
3. There is no deadline for sign-up; however, the sign-up procedure will be on a
first come-first serve basis.
4. Parents are encouraged to sign-up for appointments prior to 4:00 P.M. on
Monday October 21.. This way, an appointment schedule can be furnished
to each teacher in order to properly prepare for their upcoming conferences.
5. Parents who cannot attend a conference on these scheduled dates are encouraged to
contact individual teachers for appointments on other dates or send an email.

Breakfast is provided by the kitchen staff at all schools. Breakfast is $1.00 and is served from 7:20 a.m. until 7:53 a.m. Please tell your child about our breakfast program. 9th - 12th grade: DAR Christopher Columbus Essay Contest. Title of Essay " A Sailor's Experiences as Part of Christopher Columbus' First Expedition to the Americas" Due December 2, 2019. Entry forms available in the Guidance Office.

Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) student results will be coming home for all students in 4th - 9th grade today, October 1st.

Seniors: If you need assistance filling out the FAFSA form for financial aid WVC is offering a FAFSA Completion Night. It will be Monday October 7th at WVC Main Hall room 205 from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

**Seniors and Parents of Seniors: Today is the first day you can fill out the FAFSA online. Mrs. Paddick has given seniors information needed for filling out the FAFSA. Go to fafsa.edu.gov Please fill out by October 31, 2019 as some financial aid is first come first serve.

A representative from the University of Southern Indiana (USI) will be at MCHS Today September 30 at 2:30 in room 301. If you are interested in U.S.I.., please sign up in the Guidance Office. The sign-up binder is on Mrs.Paddick's door.

Seniors:
A congressional nomination is required for students wishing to enter the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY. Successful applicants will have a broad academic background, the ability to pass a physical aptitude test, and strong leadership potential.
Students may find the Congressional application online at shimkus.house.gov/services/academy. The application must be returned to Shimkus' office by November 1, 2019. In addition to applying with his office, students MUST also complete applications online with each academy they are interested in attending.

This is a reminder that all school registration fees need to be paid by the end of October. You have 3 options to pay on- line, mail, or bring to office. If you have a question please call the school. The negative balance is the amount due to bring your account back to $0.

YEARBOOK SALE! There are a few extra 2019 High School Yearbooks if anyone wants to purchase one. They are $50, cash or check only and may be purchased in the MCHS Art Room. There are also 2018 Yearbooks available for sale at $25.

Seniors:
Jason Ile Memorial Scholarship: The Jason Ile Memorial Fund recipient must be a graduating senior from the class of 2020 who takes getting behind the wheel seriously. The recipient must have a clean driving record and be a student in good standing with no failing grades.
Applications are available in the MCHS Guidance Office.
The application and all other requirements must be submitted to the Guidance Office by Friday, April 24, 2020.
