Illinois Science Assessment - Reminder to all Juniors, the Illinois Science Assessment will be Monday, 4/26. Juniors will need to arrive at the school no later than 8:15. Students will need their fully charged chromebook and wired earbuds. Testing should conclude around 11:30-12:00.

F/S Football Game Cancelled
The F/S football game scheduled for Saturday, April 24th with Olney has been cancelled due to low numbers in the Olney football program. The F/S Football team ends the season with a perfect 5-0 record.
Does your child ever wonder what they want to do when they grow up? The good news is that MCHS partnered with Junior Achievement, who has provided a virtual resource called Job Spark, which is intended to help students explore eight career clusters. For the incoming 2021-2022 Senior student, the Meningitis vaccine is a required immunization for registration. The Wabash County Health Department will be at MCHS in the Health Office on Wednesday, May 5th during the morning hours to give the required vaccine to your child. If this is something your would like your child to participate in please email me at skolb@wabash348.com so I can send you the consent form which must be completed prior to your child receiving the vaccine. This immunization is the only health requirement for their senior year and this would alleviate the need to make an appointment during the summer to get the vaccine. Congratulations to MCHS sophomore Carli Merritt for winning the Americanism essay contest in the Wabash Unit, the Twenty-Third District, and the Fifth Division. She was awarded the certificates along with a $50 check from the local Americanism Chairman, Mary Jimmie Moade. The essay has been sent to the next level. Great job Carli!!!

Max R. and Sara L. Snyder Memorial Scholarship
A designated fund created by Dr. Sara Snyder Crumpacker and Mr. J. Peter Crumpacker to support an annual scholarship administered through Mt. Carmel High School. If sufficient money is available to accommodate the awarding of two scholarships in the same year, one should be awarded to a male student and the other to a female student, when possible. This scholarship has been established to honor Max R. and Sara L. Snyder, and in the spirit of Thomas Jefferson, to recognize that an educated citizenry is vital for our survival as a free nation.
∙ DEADLINE for scholarship application: Applications must be turned in to the MCHS Guidance Office by April 30, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. (No exceptions).
∙ Incomplete applications will not be considered.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Graduating seniors of Mt. Carmel High School in Wabash County, Illinois who are planning full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university, who demonstrate financial need, and who have a GPA of at least 3.0 or show demonstrable achievement on SAT or ACT exams. Preference may be given to applicants planning a course of study or intending a career in the food industry, nutrition/nourishment, health, or agriculture. If there are no qualified applicants from Mt. Carmel High School in a given year, graduating seniors of other nearby Southern Illinois high schools may be eligible to apply.

Dear Senior of CEO, 4H, or FFA,
Thank you for your interest in the Stu Grant Gavel Scholarship! Our family is pleased to offer a $1,000 scholarship in honor of our late father Stu. Stu was a man who firmly believed in faith, family, and community. We would like for you to write a two-page essay on what these important pillars of life mean to you, as you begin to think about the next stage of your life. It is important in our family to stay grounded, humble, and to help others in need. These three pillars are what we feel important to maintaining that character and integrity in a person. The scholarship will be awarded to the student who exemplifies these characteristics and has a full understanding of how important they are in everyday life.
The scholarship is funded through an annual glow golf tournament held in Mt. Carmel. The first annual tourney was held in September of 2018 and was a great success. It is our hope to expand in the coming years on the tourney and look forward to the day that you may play in it too.
In submitting your application for the scholarship, please feel free to expand on your future interests, such as, where you may be attending college, what major you plan to hold, and what you would like to do upon graduation. Mt. Carmel High School Music Department presents: The Addams Family, A musical comedy.
Class of 2021,
Practice is scheduled for Monday, May 10, at 10:00 am, in Gym 1.
Honors' Night is scheduled for Friday, May 14, at 7:00 pm, in Gym 1.
Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, May 15, at 10:00 am, at Riverview Stadium.
Rain time #1 is 7:00 pm, Saturday, May 15
Rain time #2 is 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 16
Again, Mandatory Honors' Night and Graduation practice is scheduled for Monday, May 10th, at 10:00 am. We will start in the gym and get a class picture, then a lot of information out at that time. This is also the time to pick up gowns and other materials from Jostens. From there, we will move downstairs to the concession stand area by the football field.
It is our hope to have one (1) practice. This is entirely up to the class by showing up on time and staying focused for the time we need to get it done. We will not start until everyone is there, so if you have a classmate that you know may struggle to be on time, be his or her alarm clock/motivation/car ride/etc.
As it has been for eons, you must attend the practice and Honors' NIght if you want to participate in the graduation ceremony on Saturday. You will also need to make sure all fees are paid prior to the Graduation ceremony if you plan to participate. Rachael is sending invoices out this week.
As of right now, we are not setting a specific guest limit for Honors' Night as it is usually not heavily attended. We do ask each family to be considerate when inviting non-vaccinated guests to an indoor gathering. We do not want to get into a situation where we reach our capacity and have to turn people away. Graduation will not have a guest limit.
