Jr. High Boys Regional action starts tonight in Olney. The #1 seed Jr. Aces will play Flora at 6:00 at Richland County Middle School.
Fan Bus: There will be a fan bus traveling to Rend Lake for the Jr. High Girls Basketball State Tournament Quarter-Final game this Saturday. A maximum of 40 students will need to sign up in the Main Office by Friday afternoon. Students will need to bring $2 to get into the game plus any concession money for the game. The bus will leave from the back parking lot of the High School at 10:00am

Congratulations to the Mount Carmel Jr. High Girls' Basketball team on winning the Regional Championship this morning. The Mount Carmel Jr. Lady Aces have advanced to the SIJHSAA Class L State Tournament to be held at Rend Lake College. The State Tournament dates are listed below more information will be coming soon, once all Regionals have been concluded.

Jr. High Girls' Regional action begins tonight at Mount Carmel Grade School. #1 Seed Mount Carmel will take on #4 Flora in the opening contest at 6:00pm. #2 Olney will play #4 Carmi - White County immediately following the conclusion of the first game. The winner of tonight's games will play for the Regional Championship on Saturday @ 11:00am also held at Mount Carmel Grade School. Just a reminder that Sportsmanship is a key component to hosting a Regional so please cheer hard for your team but also be mindful of your behavior. Also a reminder that no passes will be accepted for the entirety of the Regional and State Tournament.

This is just a reminder that the Jr. High Girls' basketball game tonight will be a 7th grade game only against Owensville and will be played at Mt. Carmel High School at 5:30.
The Illinois Youth Survey (IYS) is a voluntary survey that all 7th and 8th graders will be taking around January 8th. The purpose of this survey is to better understand Illinois youth risk and protective behaviors as they relate to students and their success. The survey is anonymous-no names or ID #s. If you would like your child to opt-out of the survey, please contact the Guidance Office at 618-262-8886.
The 8th grade health and recreation students are attending the skating rink on Friday 12/15/23. In order for these students to attend they must have the liability form filled out and the $3.00 paid by 3:00 PM on 12/14/23 in order to attend.
The Jr. High Boys' Basketball game scheduled for Tuesday December 19th has been moved to Tuesday January 9th.
Jr. High Athletics Update: Mount Carmel Jr. High will now play host to the 7th Grade Girls' Jr. N.E.C Tournament to be held at Mount Carmel Grade School on Saturday Jan 6th starting at 9:00am. Mount Carmel Jr. High will also be hosting the 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Regional Tournament to be held at Mount Carmel Grade School on Thursday January 11th and Saturday January 13th. This will move the Jr. Boys' game against Flora from the original January 11th date to Monday January 22nd. Please stay tuned to the district website and the app for further details.
The MCJHS Band had a busy weekend in Mt. Carmel! The Jazz band performed at Christmas Uptown on Friday night and the Jr. High Band marched in the parade on Saturday. We are proud of your hard work!
November was a busy month for our Music department with ILMEA festivals! We had 13 students selected by audition for the Jr Choir. They were Abigail Arena, Lani-Kay Bailey, Eli Baker, Luis Bohorquez, Madi Dawson, Annelise Garrison, Anna Hall, Colbie Heinrich, Ella Lindner, Violet Miller, Dane Perry, James Ross and Bryleigh Swatsley. We had 4 make Jr Band by audition. They werer Lucy Hall, Reece Macer, Greyson Roberts and 6th grader,Karis Hadra. The Band & Choir festivals were held on Nov. 18 at EIU. We also had 14 students selected for the Jr Jazz Choir which was held on Saturday, Nov. 4, also at EIU. They were Dani Arano, Lani-Kay Bailey, Eli Baker, Luis Bohorquez, Madi Dawson, Annelise Garrison, Colbie Heinrich, Sarah Ireland, Reece Macer, TyMarie McCleave, Violet Miller, Dane Perry, Justice Toothman, and Piper Wilson. Mrs. Wall also serves as the Jr Band representive for ILMEA District 5
A fun and educational simulation of trench warfare happening in Mr. Toothman's class today. The students are using the classroom desk and paper balls to simulate trench warfare happening in the world wars.
Please note that the Boys' Jr. High Basketball game originally scheduled for Tue Dec 12th has been moved to Wed Jan 17th @ home against Clark Middle School (Vinn) @ 5:30.
This year's MCHS FBLA Pink Out Event will be January 12, 2024 during the basketball game. Please use the link below to purchase a Pink Out shirt and raise money for a great cause.
